What to Wear to a Couple’s Shoot

If you’re here, that means you and your boo thang are planning on getting some photos taken. CONGRATS! How exciting! It’s going to be a blast, I promise.

You might be stuck thinking, “What the heck do I wear?! Which colors are best? What type of vibe should we go for?” — you’ve come to the right place. I’ll break it all down for you, so you can just focus on being all cute & in love. :)

First things first: COLOR!

Neutral, earthy colors are typically best because they pop without being too distracting.

— think whites, tans, dark greens, browns, and grays.

Try to avoid wearing too much black or bright/neon clothing.

Notice how each couple looks natural against their background, but they’re not blending in, either.

COORDINATION is also important!

Yes, I said coordination, not necessarily matching. Stick to the same tones rather than wearing identical outfits.

I threw together this Pinterest board to show lots of cutie couples who are wearing nicely coordinated fits --

some stuck with the white theme, others went for more blues & tans, but no matter what, they all look both put together and good together!

Don’t forget about PATTERNS

It’s best to avoid heavy, distracting patterns (green Christmas shirt).

Subtle patterns, on the other hand, can be very cute & fun (floral dress & striped shirt)!

However, the dress & striped shirt examples together would be a lil distracting. If one person wears a pattern, it’s best for the other to wear solid, complementary colors.

Additionally, consider your photoshoot location when choosing your fit.

Flowy, summertime clothes make sense for a riverside shoot.

However, 1980's themed disco fits with knee-high boots & armlength gloves might not resonate as much for a nature shoot! (It would still be pretty sick though.)

At the end of the day, the most important thing is that you both feel good in your chosen outfits!

Feeling good equals confidence, confidence equals happy, and happy equals killer pictures. :)
